Professor Anthony Panin is an Agricultural Economist, and has worked in countries such as Ethiopia, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Botswana. He did his studies from undergraduate to PhD level in Germany, Göttingen. He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics Development of Farming Systems. He main research focus has been on the development of smallholder farming systems in Africa.

In 2009, he was appointed as the Head of Department of Economics at CUC and became Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) in 2013.

From January 2017 to August 2019, Professor Panin was the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Central University. Since September 2019 till now, Professor Panin has been an adjunct professor at GIMPA.
